Location: Cheshire (with national assessment responsibilities)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time (37 hours per week)
A well-established client in the further education sector is seeking a skilled and motivated Advanced Technical Trainer - Rail Engineering to join its expanding Engineering team. With major investment in specialist facilities and a focus on delivering industry-ready training, this is an outstanding opportunity for a rail professional to transition into education and shape the future of the workforce.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will design and deliver engaging practical and theoretical training to rail engineering apprentices. The role also includes assessment of learners on and off-site across national apprenticeship programmes, with a strong emphasis on quality, industry standards and learner development.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and assess apprenticeship training aligned with industry expectations
- Mentor and guide apprentices through structured practical and classroom-based activities
- Conduct high-quality vocational assessments and contribute to learner progression
- Collaborate with colleagues and external stakeholders to support delivery and development
- Uphold high standards of health, safety, compliance and safeguarding
- Drive continual improvement through curriculum development and innovation
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- A minimum Level 3 qualification in Rail Engineering or a related field
- Relevant experience within the rail sector (e.g. operations, maintenance or engineering)
- PTS qualification (desirable)
- Experience of training, assessment or mentoring (a teaching qualification is beneficial but not essential)
- Strong interpersonal, organisational and digital skills
- A learner-focused approach and a commitment to excellence
