Role Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect on behalf of a leading regulatory body. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless integration of projects and programmes with strategic business objectives. The Enterprise Architect will develop explicit graphical models that define organisational goals, the processes required to achieve them, and the data necessary to support those processes.
Acting as the key architect, this role sets the strategic direction for integrating information applications and programmes while maintaining a structured approach to enterprise architecture. The successful candidate will develop, coordinate, communicate, and enforce architecture models, initiatives, capabilities, and standard components to align business and technology activities.
Additionally, the Enterprise Architect will be responsible for continuous improvement of enterprise architecture methodologies, principles, information workflows, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice on enterprise architecture issues to senior stakeholders.
- Align business strategies with enterprise architecture (EA) artefacts and ensure adherence to architectural principles.
- Develop strategic architecture roadmaps in collaboration with programme leaders.
- Continuously improve EA governance processes, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy.
- Create enterprise architecture views with a focus on addressing business challenges.
- Influence and support new business technology initiatives from inception.
- Provide architectural oversight and governance for programmes and projects.
- Offer architectural guidance and consultancy to solution architecture teams and IT functions.
- Manage and enhance the organisation's architectural knowledge base.
- Ensure high-quality EA artefacts and contribute to achieving strategic benefits.
- Champion best practices, acting as a trusted advisor to the organisation.
- Advocate for technology advancements and drive innovation within the organisation.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Degree or equivalent qualification, or extensive industry experience.
- Significant experience as an Enterprise Architect, with a strong track record.
- Expertise in at least two Enterprise Architecture domains (Business, Data, Application, or Technology).
- Practical understanding of business models, processes, and their impact on enterprise architecture.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing architectural principles.
- Ability to align business vision with capability roadmaps.
- Strong knowledge of systems, integration approaches, and industry standards.
- Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to drive change at senior levels.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Enterprise Architecture certification (e.g., TOGAF or equivalent).
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to engage and motivate teams.

This is a permanent opportunity, paying £70,000-£75,000 per annum, with good company benefits including 25 days holiday, 12.25% pension, enhanced paternity/maternity leave, life assurance etc. Working 1 or 2 days per week out of their office in Birmingham.
