SpLD Tutor and Assessor
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated SpLD (Specific Learning Disabilities) Tutor and Assessor to join our team. As part of our inclusive education provision, you will support students with SpLDs such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, and ADHD, providing both tutoring and assessment to ensure they reach their full academic potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough SpLD assessments to identify students' specific learning needs and provide tailored recommendations.
- Provide one-to-one and group tuition for students with SpLDs, using evidence-based strategies and adjustments to support their learning.
- Develop and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for students, focusing on strategies to enhance their academic progress and success.
- Monitor and assess student progress, offering constructive feedback and adapting teaching methods to individual needs.
- Work closely with academic staff to support students across a range of subjects, ensuring reasonable adjustments are in place.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, support provided, and student progress.
- Provide advice and support to students on managing their specific learning difficulties and study skills.
Essential Criteria:
- A recognised qualification in SpLD, such as an AMBDA, SpLD Assessment Practising Certificate (APC), or equivalent.
- Experience of assessing and tutoring students with specific learning difficulties.
- Strong knowledge of strategies and approaches to support students with SpLDs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and offer encouragement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Equality Act 2010, and how it applies to students with SpLDs.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working in a higher education or further education setting.
- A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of assistive technologies and how they can support students with SpLDs.
