Pentagon Talent are delighted to be partnering with a forward thinking and modern Top 50 Accountancy Firm in the City of London to recruit for an Audit Senior. You will be joining an expanding Audit team where you be challenged, supported and able to develop your skill set. Our client works with a wide range of clients including some listed.
Duties and responsibilities
As an Audit Senior you will be carrying out a range of duties and responsibilities including but not limited to;
- Complete high-standard audit planning after receiving a briefing from the manager/RI and ensuring the planning section is signed off on Caseware.
- Draft the engagement team discussion agenda, covering materiality, fraud assessment, risk of error, significant accounting estimates, significant risks, and preliminary analytical review.
- Draft audit approach, information request (to be sent at least two weeks prior to fieldwork), realistic budget (aligned with risk profile), and planning letter for sign-off.
- Produce detailed requests for client information in advance of fieldwork, ensuring financial statements comply with relevant standards (e.g., FRS 101/2, IFRS).
- Effectively manage the onsite team, complete audit procedures per the agreed plan, and ensure work is signed off on Caseware as it progresses.
- Review junior staff's work, address issues, ensure documentation is concise, and follow up on unadjusted errors with the client and manager.
- Regularly communicate with the manager about assignment status, flagging issues and updating the budget tracker while ensuring junior staff are also informed.
- Be approachable to clients, handle queries promptly, and keep the manager/partner informed of issues that may impact client work or delivery.
- You will also work alongside the accoutns team and get exposure to accounts.
Qualifications and skills required
In order succeed as an Audit Senior you will:
- Be ACCA or ACA qualified.
- Have experience working in an audit role and ideally have some exposure to accounts.
- Have excellent communication and management skills.
