Electrical Design Engineer Building Services

They have multiple offices across the UK and have a solid reputation for successful project delivery throughout numerous sectors within the Built Environment. Projects can vary from small works to £100m+ across Education, Heritage, High-End Residential, Cultural, Laboratories and more. They have a very modern, open-plan office space, you will get exposure to designing a wide range of electrical systems across multiple jobs and there is an excellent support system in place for staff training and development. They are currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer at either Intermediate / Senior / Principle level to join their Glasgow office.
Role
- Ensuring an understanding of project briefs. Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems .
- Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems - power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection etc.
- Carry out (and managing of others), in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, dialux, Amtech, in-house developed tools, etc.
- Representing the organisation at meetings with clients and contractors.
- Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
- Report and technical note writing.
- Maintaining complete records and archives to company standards.
- Adherence to all quality, environmental and governance processes.
Qualifications / Experience
- HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent certified Electrical Engineer.
- Use knowledge of electrical building services to educate designs (HV/LV Power, Lighting, Emergency Lighting, Lighting Control, Fire Alarms, Communication Systems, Lightning Protection, Security and Access Control etc.).
- Post graduate work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business.
- Full UK driving licence
- Ideally working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer
- Maintain, enhance and apply both design and technical knowledge ensuring production of high-quality drawings.
- Preparation of electrical design calculations, drawings, specifications, and tender documents. Participate in the design progress and coordination meetings.
- Prepare specifications, schedules, drawings and any other contract documents developed through the RIBA work stages.
- Attend tender / client interviews.
- Attend site inspection meetings.
- Liaise with clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, sub-contractors and other designers.
