Personal Care Assistant/Learning Support Assistant

JOB TITLE / ROLE: Personal Care Assistant/Learning Support Assistant

SALARY: £14-16 per hour

DETAILS:

PURPOSE OF JOB:
To work as part of the Supported Learning Team to support and include learners with learning difficulties, disabilities and other barriers to learning within the curriculum.

To support the quality of teaching and learning in the curriculum areas.

To support progress and attainment of identified learners with additional SEND/EHCPs to achieve success on their course of study

To promote the highest level of independence for each student, whilst ensuring they are at all times in a safe and healthy environment.

You will need:

• To be committed to providing support to learners with a range of needs, be flexible in your approach and be able to work as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills, along with patience and enthusiasm
• Previous experience with SEND is a requirement
• Understanding and experience using Makaton, PECs and sensory approaches are advantageous but not essential
• Willingness to provide personal care support to students who are more vulnerable (such as wheelchair assistance, feeding etc.)

The college are also open to receiving applications from people who have previously worked as a support/care worker. This is a full time, long term role to start ASAP and will continue until the end of the next academic year (July 2024).

• Ideal Candidate: Previous SEND experience is essential, Makaton and PECS experience - highly desirable but not essential, previous experience as a support worker/care worker
