Job Role: Head of Housing Community
Department: Housing and Community
Contract type: Permanent / 37.5Hours PW
Location: Herdfordshire

Job Purpose:

This role is a pivotal role within the 'housing & community' service and will be responsible for supporting the Director of Housing & Community in providing a high-quality service across the whole portfolio and with responsibility for line management of the team of managers.

We are looking for an experienced senior Manager to lead a team of mangers to support, encourage and develop the organization's 'housing & community activities' to provide a positive outcome for all.

The post holder will have the necessary skills and experience to foster a culture of excellent customer service, genuine care for residents, a strong sense of team spirit to maximise outcomes I increase the impact for residents and are able to lead, inspire and motivate a team, we would welcome your application.

General Responsibilities:

  • To take the lead in the preparation of documents for inspections, audits, funding and commissioning bids
  • To support the Director of Housing & Community in securing appropriate external housing accreditations
  • To represent at appropriate external meetings/ conferences commensurate with role.
  • Carry out other specific tasks as instructed by the Head of Housing
  • Work with and through the Managers to develop and foster a culture that supports the inclusive ethos of the organisation, engaging as appropriate with the wider activities of the organisation to support cohesion and


Operational Service Management:

  • To take the lead on developing and delivering a proactive approach to supporting residents through their journey from the streets to independence / independent living & service users on their individual journeys
  • To manage a dispersed team of professionals across a wide geographical area
  • To monitor service delivery in line with policies and procedures
  • Monitor and manage the administration processes and the appropriate information management systems ensuring procedures are adhered too, systems are efficient, and data is accurate and up to date
  • To monitor, evaluate and develop levels of staff performance in:
  1. interviewing & assessment of prospective residents / service users
  1. levels of occupancy & rent realisation
  1. quality & implementation of support plans, risk assessments & key work sessions
  1. residents/ service users' journey of travel
  1. meaningful contacts & resident /service user consultations
  • To take the lead on maintaining service effectiveness by auditing service provision and data, highlighting and making recommendations regarding areas of concern and/or underperformance, producing reports as required
  • To take the lead on the development and delivery of resident / service user engagement strategies
  • Tobe operational lead for Safeguarding, Complaints and Service Feedback & Health & Safety.

Finance

  • To ensure financial controls regarding the receipt, recording and banking of monies are adhered too and work with finance colleagues to investigate any anomalies and authorise appropriate adjustments as required
  • To ensure that invoice requests, authorisation & payment are carried out in line with organization's procedures and are undertaken in accordance with Organizatio's Financial Regulations
  • To undertake regular / monthly reviews of the management accounts with the service managers

Performance Management and Staff Development

  • To hold regular performance meetings with the managers to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, strive for continuous service improvement and achievement of agreed performance targets
  • Ensure managers are motivated to achieve agreed performance standards and a customer focused service
  • Identify the managers learning, development and training needs to ensure skills are maintained at or above the required levels

Statutory, Regulatory and Polices

  • To take the lead on contribute to the continual development of the service's policies and procedures and the scheduling and monitoring of effective reviews.
  • To take the lead on ensuring both housing & community procedures and corporate policies are understood and adhered to by staff and volunteers
  • Take operational lead for ensuring both Safeguarding and Health & Safety procedures and legislative requirements are met and maintained.
