Dame Kelly Holmes Legacy Trust - What The Trust have been upto in January 2012

2012 started with a bang for the DKH Legacy Trust.

In early January, the charity was announced as a delivery partner to Sport England in the new £1billion Youth and Community Strategy.

This means the Trust’s flagship Get on Track programme will be expanded over the next four years, taking it to areas of the country that need it the most. At a time when over 1 million young people are out of education or employment, the support of the Trust’s athlete mentors is needed more than ever.

The month ended with the launch of the new Unlocking Potential project. DKH Legacy Trust athlete mentors will provide support to 20 young people, all stemming from different backgrounds, who will be given a unique opportunity to plan, manage, and coordinate a social action project in their own communities.

Trust CEO Julie Whelan said: “Unlocking potential will provide a fantastic opportunity for these 20 carefully selected young people to make a significant positive impact in their own communities."
